What is DevFest?
DevFest is a local tech conference hosted by Google Developer Groups around the world. Whether it be through hands-on learning experiences, technical talks delivered in local languages by experts, or by simply meeting fellow local developers.
DevFest brings together thousands of developers globally for the largest virtual weekend of community-led technical learning and a shared passion for Google technologies on Nov 26. The magic of DevFest has always come from the people involved - developers from all different backgrounds and skill levels. For DevFest Jakarta 2022, GDG Jakarta are coming together in a new way - in person. This global moment empowers developers to teach, learn, and connect when they may need it the most.

DevFest Jakarta 2022: Enhancing Skills of Local Technology Developers
On November 26, 2022, K-Link Tower hosted DevFest Jakarta 2022. The event, organized by Google Developer Groups (GDG) Jakarta, attracted over 500 local developers from various backgrounds. It was designed to provide developers with opportunities to enhance their skills, as well as to meet and interact with experts and other developers.
DevFest Jakarta 2022 featured a series of technical learning sessions led by industry experts and tech community members. Notable speakers included Meytha Zennis (Lead Software Engineer - Android, Tokopedia), Budi Oktaviyan (Technical Lead (GDE), Grab), Adjie Guntoro (Senior Software Engineer - Web Platform, Tokopedia), Jefry Dewangga (Software Engineer, Ajaib), Vanya Vabrina Valindria (Senior AI Research Engineer, Bukalapak), and many more.
The event began at 8 AM with participant registration. At 8:45 AM, the event was officially opened with a welcome address and keynote from the Google Developers Program: GDG Jakarta. Following this, the technical learning sessions commenced, allowing participants to choose sessions that matched their interests.
The technical learning sessions covered various topics, such as Machine Learning (ML), Android, and Web development. The ML session was led by Vanya Vabrina Valindria and Lili Ayu Wulandhari, while the Android session was facilitated by Meyta Taliti and Budi Oktaviyan. The Web session was led by Adjie Guntoro and Jefry Dewangga.
Additionally, the event featured a panel discussion by Women Techmakers, discussing the challenges and opportunities for women in the tech industry. This session was followed by a Q&A and discussion, further expanding participants’ knowledge.
DevFest Jakarta 2022 concluded with a final talk and networking session. Participants had the opportunity to interact and connect with fellow developers and speakers, forming new professional networks.
DevFest Jakarta 2022 demonstrated the importance of skill development and professional networking in software development. By bringing together experts and experienced developers, this event provided a unique opportunity for local developers to enhance their skills and expand their professional networks.
