DroidJam 2022
DroidJam is an event organized by the Google Developer Group (GDG) and Google Developer Student Club (GDSC) aimed at introducing Android technology, particularly the technologies developed by Google. The speakers at this event are experienced developers in Android application development, including well-known figures such as Budi Oktaviyan, Technical Lead at Grab Indonesia, Muh Ishfani Ghiath, Software Engineer at Tokopedia, Rendra Toro, Technology Consultant at Indosat Oredoo Hutchison, and many others.
The event took place from 10 AM to 6 PM, and participants were also given merchandise/swag as souvenirs, along with snacks and lunch provided by the organizers. The event was attended by developers from various cities across Indonesia, especially from Java, particularly around the Jabodetabek area. The topics presented were very up-to-date and highly beneficial for the attending developers. Although the event was specifically aimed at Android developers, it was also open to those who wanted to learn about Android.
I was particularly interested in the new Android technology topics presented, especially in the area of Jetpack Compose. Jetpack Compose is a library or tool that simplifies UI development in Android without the need to start from scratch using XML. It also allows developers to create UIs using Kotlin, a language well-known to Android developers. This material is very useful for Android developers looking to build UIs with Kotlin.
Another fascinating topic was Geofencing for enhancing digital campaigns, presented by Ms. Veronica Putri Anggraini, an Android Software Developer at LINE Indonesia. With so many beneficial topics on Android development, I believe this event was quite worthwhile for Android developers looking to deepen their knowledge or learn about the latest Android technologies that are relevant in today’s technological landscape.
