The Beauty of the Bromo Mountain Sand Sea
Mount Bromo is one of the active volcanoes in Indonesia and has become a popular destination for hikers, the general public, and families alike to spend their holidays and indulge in the stunning natural scenery. Bromo is considered a sacred mountain by the residents living at its base, mainly the Tengger ethnic group. Within the Bromo caldera, there are shrines for worship by the surrounding community adhering to Javanese Hindu or Tenggerese Buddhist beliefs, where Bromo is considered a sacred site for rituals and worship.
The caldera of Bromo itself is vast, encompassing a sea of sand. According to history, the caldera was formed during a massive eruption, creating an immensely large caldera that now houses the sand sea, covering and encircling Mount Bromo. The sand in the caldera is also categorized as volcanic sand. Prolonged inhalation of volcanic dust and sand can affect respiratory health. Therefore, the tourism authorities in the Bromo area recommend visitors wear masks when exploring the Bromo caldera or climbing to Bromo’s crater.

Writer embarked on a tour to the Bromo caldera to enjoy the beautiful and pleasant scenery with my family. To reach the Bromo caldera, jeeps are available for rent at a cost of IDR 1,000,000.00 for a single ride, taking you to four different points.

The first point is Seruni Point, an excellent spot to enjoy the overall view of the Bromo caldera and Mount Batok as a backdrop for photographs.
We come from nature, our lives depend on nature, and we will return to nature. Save nature, save life, save the future.
The second point is the Bromo Sand Sea, where you can marvel at the volcanic sand desert within the Bromo caldera.
The third point is the ascent to the summit of Bromo’s crater. At this point, you have to walk across the sand sea to reach the top. There is a temple at the base of Mount Bromo used for worship by the local community and as a place to store offerings before being taken to the summit of Bromo’s crater. Next to Mount Bromo is Mount Batok, another mountain within the Bromo caldera.

The fourth point is the Teletubbies Hill, where the hills are covered with tall grass resembling the landscape from the children’s show Teletubbies.
After visiting these four points, the jeep will take you back down to the parking area at the foot of Mount Bromo.
